first couple of weeks

The children in K. and 1st grades continued practicing cutting round shapes.
This time they cut “leaves” for the “fall tree”. They traced their hands to make leaves and then cut them out.

The second grade made an exercise of creating an abstract piece in pairs. Kids took turns in drawing on the same piece of paper. The purpose of the exercise was to reintroduce kids to each other and to the art class in a fun way.
The older kids (5,6 grade) continued exploring the ways to make a poster. While at it interesting discussions took place: what Judaic symbols mean to a person , what it is to be a Jew, what technology does, what would make the parents happier, what would a dream vacation be.

Sep 10-14

This week in Kindergarten, and 1 grade we continued to learn  to cut round shapes. We've finished the shape puppets we’ve started last week.

The 2nd and 3d made abstract pieces, 5th and 6th started to make posters for “MakeAPoster” contest from Voices-Visions website.

Here is our first day

Kindergarten learned how to cut round shapes and started to make shape puppets.

5-6 grades were doing abstract art pieces-each piece was done by a group of 2 or 3 students. This type of work was very relaxing and at the same time interesting: children saw how their art is influenced by their peers, and how it changes from piece to piece.
